These are just some of the ladies who participated in the August challenge and I am so honored to be able to feature them on the blog! Each of them has been committing to making this lifestyle change while investing in their inner and outer wellness. Will you join me in giving them a shout out?
QUESTION: Why did you decide to commit to this 21 day challenge?
Hillary: I committed to this 21 day challenge to become a healthier person. My goals are to get off high blood pressure medicine and just feel better. I don't think the medicine will go away over night but I can definitely see a difference in just 21 days and I am well on my way to reaching my goals now that I have changed my life.
Steph: I committed because I wanted to jumpstart a new healthy lifestyle to become more fit and healthy for myself and my daughter.
Lauren: I commited because I needed to try something different for my nutrition and my exercise routine. I needed a change more than anything!!!
Jenny: I decided to commit for mostly making myself accountable for something. Exercise is a normal thing for me but I tend to be a private do it myself person and I’m challenging myself to be more open!
QUESTION: What program did you select and did it challenge you?
Hillary: I selected the 21 day fix and it certainly did challenge me! I still have been modifying a lot of the moves but I pushed play for 3 days every week!
Steph: I did the Country Heat program. It hasn't been too challenging, but it is fun!
Lauren: 21 day fix was challenging but not intimidating! It made me work hard but not overwork me and allowed me to go at my own pace and my own comfort in the privacy of my living room.
Jenny: I did 21 day fox extreme. I would say it was challenging in some ways but similar to other workouts I’ve done regularly. I’m excited to try something different!
QUESTION: What are some scale/ non scale victories you experienced?
Hillary: I have literally had 3 people this week tell me they have seen a change. The scale only shows I've lost 3 lbs but I know things have changed. I went from a size 22 to a size 18. My sister in law told me I appear happier and she can see that my clothes are a little loose.
Steph: I have been pushing play, which is a huge deal for me with all the chaos going on around here.
Lauren: I can tell I've had some scale victories but I am waiting to see the actual results until I do another round of 21 day fix. SO MANY non-scale victories; not missing a single workout, only missing one shakeology, feeling stronger, feeling healthier, feeling more confident in my nutrition and my choices!
Jenny: Scale victories- I lost a couple pounds. Non scale is following through on something I committed to and being aware of portions for certain types of food.
QUESTION: What was one way you grew spiritually?
Hillary: I definitely enjoyed the devotions. I tend to look at God as an overpowering punishing God all the time and forget He is also love.
Steph: I started singing songs about Jesus to my daughter. We've always done nursery songs, but I just never did Jesus songs with her. It never came to mind.
Lauren: I would say I became more open minded to the way I can apply scripture to my life even though I'm not familiar with it. I've seen a different side to faith that I think I can relate to and explore more in the future.
Jenny: Spiritually, I became a lot more conscious of being aware of what it means to work through something and see the glory in God bringing me to the other side of challenges.
QUESTION: Do you find this lifestyle realistic and maintainable?
Hillary: his lifestyle is totally realistic and has actually started to become second nature to me. I've found a lot of quick easy meals that I can bring for work lunches. I literally used to eat Pringles and potato salad for lunch as I wouldn't pack a lunch and would just buy anything as I was starving by lunch time. Last week- I have eggs with spinach and mushroom for lunch and have brought carrots into the picture versus chips. It's been a complete change for me and I haven't felt deprived at all!
Steph: Yes, I think I can maintain this. It's much easier to thing in containers than calories or anything like that. It also gives you a visual on "a serving."
Lauren: I plan to continue to maintain this lifestyle-quitting soda and fast food/processed foods, consciously making an effort to add more veggies and reduce my carbs, making exercise as part of my daily routine, keeping myself motivated.
Jenny: Yes this lifestyle will continue to be realistic for me. I’ve got 5 more years till 40 and my goal is to be in the best shape of my life.
QUESTION: Would you recommend this group to a friend or family member?
Hillary: I would totally recommend this to a family member/ friend. I can already see where it would be easy for me to refer someone to Caren. She is a fantastic coach and the deeper devotional piece of this can really help with a complete life transformation.
Steph: Yes I would highly recommend this!
Lauren: I would and I will continue to share my success with this program as I try out new programs as well!!
Jenny: I would definitely recommend this. You are such an encouragement Caren!!!
