It's Been A While

It has been some time since I’ve written here. I say here because all this time I have been writing. Just not here.

When God gave me the green light in October to start writing a book on what it means to steward our bodies with Him, His way and for His glory, I thought I could still manage writing in other places while doing so. I was wrong. In fact, not only did my writing here decrease (really it has stopped since April) but even my coaching business required a major slow down so I could give 100% of myself to the writing project He laid before me. I could not do it divided.

I never knew how much writing would require mental, spiritual, intellectual, theological and even physical energy. But let me tell you, the last 10 months have been incredible. When we save our “yes’s” for the things of God and that are led by Him, we get to experience God Himself more fully!

The book is currently finished but I still consider it a “draft”. The next step is to submit a proposal to a publishing company to, hopefully, begin that journey.

Funny story about that. I was ready to self-publish because it seemed simpler and faster. But God sent me a friend who heard of what I was doing and had been taking courses on book writing and publishing. She knew everything there was to know on how to write book proposals to top publishing companies. She put down her yes to helping me and God made it clear that self-publishing was not His way for this book.

Isn’t it interesting how we often choose efficiency but it’s usually at the cost of effectiveness? Self-publishing would have been efficient, but it would not have been effective. The reality is, to do something effectively and efficiently, more patience, humility, teachability and discipline is required.

I have so much more I want to write and share from these last 10 months but for now I will leave you with this: Take time to reflect on whether you are currently doing things with God or just for Him. We are absolutely to do all things for His glory but that should be the fruit (result) of doing things with Him. When we are walking with God, it doesn’t mean there is no pain, effort or struggle. It does mean we experience His peace, power and grace to enable us to do what He’s calling us to do. Let’s ensure we are waiting on Him and staying in step with Him today!

Until next time!
