GAHHH best.vacation.ever. The only downside was that my wonderful husband shared his common cold with me :D Otherwise, I would say this week off was EPIC! I am typing this as I sit in our hotel room since we split our drive in half (4&4) so we didn't burn ourselves out. Plus, when you're sick, sitting in the car for 8 hours is not appealing.
Remember my previous post about taking the pressure off? So, one of my biggest goals for 2015 was learning to "let go" and be less focused on food and embrace time with people. This doesn't give me a ticket to eat whatever whenever but simply allows me to shift my focus a little bit. I remember other vacations I took where I would be SO strict about my eating that I would be so focused on that and miss out on the fun, relaxation, conversations, and more. So this week I took the pressure off. I ate a cookie when I wanted one, but I also fueled my body with nutrient dense foods as often as I could too. Balance. Above is an example of meals I had throughout the week!
New Years Eve PARTY!
Moment of truth: Last time I stayed up to welcome the New Year was 2012. I go to bed at like 9pm people! BUT, wonderful friends of mine did a fabulous job keeping me awake with food, punch (non alcoholic), and board games (Headbands, Catch Phrase, Fish Bowl, and Quelf). Time FLEW by! Staying up till midnight didn't seem so crazy anymore. Oh, and you see those subs on the bottom right? They were HUGE and delicious. Best.Bread.Ever.
