I am often asked what the best pre&post workout meals are! So why not do a post :)
PRE workout: I have found that before my workout carbs are my best friends. Let me clarify: GOOD carbs. The key is to have a mix of complex and simple carbs so that the release of energy during your workout is slow and steady throughout your routine. An example of that would be 100% whole-wheat toast with fruit gives you both types of carbs with the bonus of being super easy to digest. My workouts are often at 5:45am and for MY body, that early in the morning it can operate quite well with reserve from dinner the night before. BUT, if I workout after work, then you can be sure at 3pm I usually have a complex&simple carb. More meal ideas:
POST workout: When you are done with your workout it is so important to refuel your body so #1 your muscles can grow #2 nutrients can replenish what was lost during your workout Examples:
