Feeling raw and vulnerable this Monday morning but I'm here to share the truth. This is my redemption story: 👇🏽
4 years ago my workouts dominated my life; they defined me. I began losing sight of God and instead chose to find my value in my fitness routines. My mornings were consumed by making sure my calories were just low enough and when I would be socializing with others I would be on my phone checking my fitnesspal to add foods for the NEXT day (not exactly living in the present). I would work out for ridiculous amounts of time (2 + hours) and constantly compare my personality, body, meals, etc. to others. After 6 years of this mess I realized no matter how low the scale was or how much I sweat, it was never enough. It was very clear that there was a void inside me and no workout, food, or physical goal was going to fill it. It was a Jesus sized void. I still remember the day I came home from leading youth group and looking at Graham (my husband) and telling him tonight was the night I was going to delete that app. I was terrified by the idea of freedom; slavery was painful but it was what I knew. This was nearly 4 years ago. Upon deletion of the app I began to completely transform my morning routine with the desire to re-connect with my CREATOR.
I began a Beachbody workout program that had me exercising 30-40 minutes a day MAX and taught me how to count nutrients not calories (let’s just say I learned a LOT). I saw the value of investing, not only in my physical health the RIGHT WAY but investing in my spiritual health. You see, as I began to see myself with the eyes of God, that I am loved, treasured, cherished, beautiful, worth dying for, forgiven, redeemed, everything began to change slowly. My workouts became an act of worship rather than a selfish desire to achieve a certain definition of beauty, nourishing my body became exactly that…nourishment. Then I realized that this had to be shared, I couldn’t keep quiet about God’s love and I couldn’t keep quiet about the success I had with these home based workout programs. So, I signed up as a coach (3 years later) to simply share my story, empower other women to invest in their WHOLE health, and grow an income for my family that I never thought would be possible by just working from home. It’s not about being a professional or an expert…it’s about caring. Leading by example while serving others is the mission. My redemption story is written by God and with it came healing for my self-image and restoration for my perception on fitness.
