I absolutely love weekends. It's a time to relax, slow down, and recharge. I decided to wake up early enough to start the day in the quiet place with my Father. From there I fueled up (I had a big bowl of oatmeal with Quest chocolate milkshake protein powder) and then hit the road to do one of the things I enjoy...strength training! As some of you know, I really enjoy heavy lifting! So that's exactly what I did :) For me, it was Back day. My workout included deadlifts, chin ups, bent over barbell rows, other exercises and small bursts of HIIT cardio.
After all the fun I got cleaned up and went to meet a new friend for coffee. Can I just say how hard it is to make new friends again after college? I'll tell you what though...this young woman was a HUGE answer to prayer! It was such a blessing to meet her and her beautiful little daughter and be able to have "girl chats" face to face again.
The rest of the day included the usual errands: grocery shopping, a trip to the GNC store to re-stock on Quest Bars, some cleaning, and some food prep for the week (the rest I usually do on Sunday). We went out to celebrate Graham's completion of the OBGYN round as part of his 3rd year program in medical school. We went to a new italian place literally .1 miles away from our house and it was so flavorful and delicious! I got the grilled chicken marinated in balsamic vinegar, rosemary, and some other delicious stuff I can't pronounce and Graham went out of his comfort zone and got Chicken Parmesan (He's not big on pasta) and he gave it an A!
The rest of the night included playing super smash brothers and other Mario games. You know when you just want to snack on something because you're bored or watching TV? Yeah, I know it's not the best time to snack but that's why making air pop popcorn is a life savor! It's not your usual movie style popcorn with all the extra butter. I usually just pop it and add some light salt. I will share with you another secret...you might think it's gross and that's totally fine cause I will keep doing it anyway...but sprinkling pickle juice on popcorn...MMMM...so good. Secret shared.
Though I am a certified personal trainer through AFAA, I am not a nutritionist. Any food posts on this blog are simply related to my journey!
