Dreaming with God and dreaming without God yield drastically different results. I’m learning to dream small. What? I know! Sounds contradicting to what the world says. But that’s Jesus after all. I’ve found that when I dream big, widen myself and focus on masses, I lose the intentionality of investing in individual hearts; I miss the important moments and the gentle nudges of the Holy Spirit. My approach toward this faith and fitness business I consider a privilege and huge responsibility is now one that is Spirt driven rather than action/ambition driven. And in all honesty and vulnerability, I’m still prone to wander. But I just keep asking God to bring me back with his rod + staff as He is The Good Shepherd. Jesus always chased hearts not masses. We are to do the same no matter what platforms / responsibilities we have.
As I look at our family dream board, I can see a few shallow + wide goals rather than deep ones. It’s time to re-evaluate. So as I get back from an incredible 8 days away, I’m not getting sucked into my to do list and letting action drive me. Today I just want the Holy Spirit to take over. As I pray over the theme for June’s faith + fitness group and the women who will be joining us, I’m waiting on Him to clarify the purpose behind this group. I don’t just want to go through the motions because this would be my 40th group to run. I’m excited to hear what He has to say. I pray this encourages you this morning and reminds you to go deep with others and in your work.
Whenever I lead faith and fitness groups each month (going on 33 months straight!) I personally grow so much. Thankful for the women going on this journey with me!
Is fear of failure holding you back from experiencing the true greatness, power, might, resources and love of God?
I have been on edge lately. In my weakness, emptiness, and brokenness, God met me. These words are not straight scripture...they are simply the words I felt God speaking to my heart and so I quickly wrote them down as I heard them. I pray His words of love and comfort to me reminds you of His love for you.
Caren... my daughter,
Relax. You seem to always be on edge. The cares of this world have left you irritable, impulsive, and lacking gentleness. You don’t laugh anymore. You don’t know how to have fun. I am trying to play and have fun with you as a father does with his child, but you’re always so serious. Loosen up. Trust that as the Good Shepherd, I take care of my sheep. I have you in my hands. You don’t need to worry. I will provide for you. The moment you begin to worry, you know something is wrong. You’ve lost sight of me…you’re becoming consumed by the cares of this world. You’re trying to play the creator. Go back and see where you’ve taken the wrong path and correct it. Surrender. You CAN be a steward of the tools I give you such as marriage, a child, a business, neighborhood, church, etc. without being caught up in the cares of this world. See the world with my lens—the lens of divine providence. You are living in 2 worlds at all times, the earthly world that is heavily influenced by your 5 senses, and the Kingdom of God. When you start to live on earth in LIGHT of the Kingdom, you now understand your purpose. When you live on earth while SEEKING FIRST The Kingdom, you will see clearly.
This world is fleeting. It is but the frame of a painting. But the Kingdom of God? That IS the painting inside the frame. So many spend excessive time building amazing and beautiful frames. They focus on all the elaborate details of the frame only to find that it is worthless without a painting inside. They live to work, they are consumed by money, success, prestige, and popularity. They follow their own dreams and desires forgetting WHOSE they are and why they were created. They forget that the frame stays on earth. It goes nowhere. The frame is ultimately just a frame without a painting in it. Yet, you could have the most valuable painting such as one by Picasso or Van Gogh and it would remain just as valuable even without a frame. Be a steward of the frame. The frame is a tool. Don’t be foolish in thinking that you’re time on earth doesn’t matter…but don’t let the cares of this world rule over you. Don’t be deceived into thinking that you are the creator. I Am.
You have 2 simultaneous stories being written. One is seen, one is unseen. The one that is seen is your earthly life. It is right in front of you. The one that is unseen is being written in invisible ink. That is your Kingdom story. The only way to reveal this story is by remaining in me and my Word. Read it. Meditate on it day and night. Apply it. Draw close to me and I will draw close to you (James 4:8). As you do this, as you begin to read, not just for head knowledge but for deeper understanding of who I am, who you are, and yes…even who the enemy is…the invisible ink will appear. You will not be fooled by the flashy, the popular, the prestige, the seductive, the temporary…for it is fleeting and meaningless. But, when you are in me and I am in you; when you ABIDE in me (John 15:5), you will become blind and deaf to that which is meaningless. You will see it but not observe it (Isaiah 42:19). Your focus will be sharp on the Kingdom.
Live your earthly life well. Sharpen your marriage, your children, your business, your tools….they are all tools for greater influence…they each provide a sphere of influence for Kingdom impact. But remember, they are just tools…they don’t define you. Your marriage, child, income, business, profession, success…none of them define you. I define you. Apart from me you can do nothing. So remain in me, and I will remain in You. You will know you’re missing the mark any time you start to worry—you have forgotten Me and are beginning to hyper focus on the frame. Worry leads to poor decision making. No good decision is made by worry. Surrender. Trust. Obey. Believe. Come to me and I will give you rest. I will provide. So relax, breathe and smile. I love you and I am with you.
Your Heavenly Father
Ever think about how your belief system determines whether or not you will stand or fall apart when a storm comes? Your belief system is made up of questions like:
👉🏽Is anyone in control of the universe?
👉🏽Does life have purpose?
👉🏽Do I have value?
👉🏽Is this life all there is?
Here is your Monday truth: to change the way you respond to life, change what you believe about life. Once your understanding of who God is and His sovereignty increases, the more your anxiety decreases.
What if you had a boss that only ever told you what you were doing wrong? You’d stop listening or caring. But when it’s someone who encourages you, celebrates you, AND then also gives important feedback, you listen.
Thankful we could actually sit today and reflect on how 2018 has been going so far—in our personal walks with God, our marriage, parenting, dreams + goals, even financially. We have to create the space to dig deep into our relationship because we have seen what happens when we just “wait” for it to happen. Tensions rise, resentment creeps in, unrealistic expectations take over, and it gets ugly. Be proactive not reactive in your marriage, friend. It WILL be transformative.
Do you play it safe? Financially? Physically? Relationally? Let's talk about the financial aspect for a moment. We are blessed to be a blessing. Random act of financial generosity is one of the priorities on our family vision board this year. To be honest, we had always committed to tithing because we really do believe that everything we have is God’s. In the last 4 months, though, God has been blessing our home business and there was the opportunity to step out even deeper. I felt God say “when you’re faithful with the little, I will give you more…but then there is a greater responsibility with that too.” The more we are blessed the more we are to be a blessing. That’s just truth.
We always wait on God to provide the opportunity and he did for February! This morning I am so excited to be supporting one of my sweet friends, Raisa. She has such a beautiful heart and it is always grounded in OTHERS. This March she is heading out for Honduras, specifically, a severely impoverished neighborhood in Cofradia. The funds raised will be used solely to fill more than 150 backpacks with school supplies for the children in this community. The school year just began in Honduras at the beginning of February-- unfortunately, the kids in this small neighborhood are in serious need of supplies to be ready for learning!
You know what’s wild? She said to me “I don’t need the money to travel because I am paying for my own flight, hotel, transportation and food…this fundraiser money is JUST of the backpacks and school supplies for the kids.”
Seriously, ya’ll…if you feel the tug on your heart to step out and give of your finances…what a beautiful opportunity to do so! To support Raisa and her mission to provide backpacks an school supplies for those children click here! Love watching God use you sister!
I talk about it a LOT but it’s ALL I see when I look back to who I once was BEFORE I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. Once we follow Jesus, EVERYTHING should change. 🌸How we see the world. 🌸How we see ourselves. 🌸How we see our neighbor. 🌸How we see our bodies. 🌸How we see our mission.
As memories continue to pop up on Facebook, it just leaves me on my knees praising God for never giving up on me and relentlessly pursuing my heart.
WHY will God ALWAYS be a part of the faith +fitness groups I run? WHY will Jesus always be talked about and His Word the cornerstone of my health + fitness business? Because…
I could help you gain an external transformation. I could help you have a before and after photo. I can help you see results on the scale. But sister, if I don’t show you what Jesus has done for me…if I don’t lead you on a path where you can have a personal encounter with Him and have your life TRULY change…then I have only made an earthly impact and not an ETERNAL one.
My name is Caren. I am a faith + fitness coach committed to serving women in health while helping them achieve an ✨INSIDE✨out transformation as they encounter Jesus. When Jesus took hold of my life and UNTANGLED my mess with health…it became my mission to help untangle my sisters. I want you to see yourself as Jesus does. This will be the key to your health journey. Suddenly, it’s not about you but about obedience to Him.
So whether you’re someone ready to draw closer to Jesus while committing your health to Him or a sister who has the passion to serve others in health and want to consider becoming a lifestyle coach alongside our team, I would love to talk with you.
You have to be aligned with the mission of Team Race2Serve. I have no interest in recruiting a coach who doesn’t believe in an inside out transformation. Yes you will help people. Yes you will grow an additional income for your family. But sister, it goes deeper. Your ultimate purpose is to make an IMPACT. Without the right positioning of your heart, this opportunity only goes as far as an earthly impact and that’s not what I am interested in. Are you ready to connect? Connect with me here.
JESUS. Empty me. Empty me of pride, selfishness, doubts, discontentment, my will, my agenda, my “problem solver” self.
JESUS. Fill me. Fill me with Your way, Your will, Your presence, Your peace, Your love, Your joy, Your agenda, Your unfathomable ability to put things back in their place.
JESUS. I need you. There can be no confidence in the flesh. Only you. I choose YOU. Strip me. Prune me. Remove the scales that have hardened my heart from hearing Your voice.
JESUS. I am prone to wander. This leads me to discontentment and striving. But today...I will not be shaken because I am putting my faith and hope in YOU. Not in what my hands can produce. Not in my expectations of how success should look. Not in what I want to see. Help me to see everything through YOUR lens.
Restore my peace. Restore my God-fidence. Restore my joy. Put everything back in its place. In your presence, I find my identity and purpose. I give you my life. I give you my family. I give you my business. I give you our finances. I give you my fears. I will move in obedience and trust in what YOU see. I love you. Amen.
I’m learning. Learning to intentionally use my time. Learning to eliminate time wasters. Learning to be present. Learning when to plug in and when to unplug. Learning how to yield to God’s voice and be obedient. Learning how to sit and listen. Learning how to slow down. Learning how to be patient. Learning how to deny myself. Learning how to be content with who I am and WHOSE I am and stop the comparison game.
Every day I am challenged as a disciple of Jesus, as a wife, as a mom, as a friend, and as a business owner. I have learned that the key is to be flexible, teachable and humble. So I just want to remind you tonight that perfection is an illusion. Stop chasing it. Instead, chase excellence and holiness...those are possible when you’re radically and unapologetically chasing Jesus Himself. Suddenly, He clarifies the confusion and clears the fog. Trust Him.
Surrender can truly take you places hustling can't.
