For a long time I've wanted to become a nurse and minister to patients and their families through their illnesses. From multiple missions trips and working in the field, I've seen a passion worth pursuing through this and intend to during and after school.
C-Bubble tea is so good though...and I love the vision God has put on your heart! When would you say your faith moved beyond just knowing God to experiencing God?
Alysha- I met God when I was real young. My parents and I went to a Catholic church until I was maybe six years old before they became born again Christians. I watched their lives transform from alcohol to sober lives, and impatient to patient attitudes. I went to Sunday school and youth group and got baptized all throughout my childhood, but I would never say my faith hasn't really been my own. To this day I have passionately pursued Him and tried to make every decision based on that. I can fully say I wouldn't be where I am today without Him. Trusting Him for fifteen years hasn't been easy, but it's definitely been rewarding. Experiencing Christ is like never being alone, or never being fearful of what could happen. It's the best feeling.
C-What is one thing God has been teaching you this season of your life?
Alysha-Throughout this season of my life, I've been reading through Hosea, which is a story about a holy man and his prostitute wife. I won't recap the whole story here, but in short, a holy man was instructed by God to marry a prostitute woman. It was her lifestyle, and she continued to do it, in turn actually putting Hosea in a position to bid the highest and buy back his wife. It's a story that represents us and God. We constantly stumble and fall back towards sin, putting God in a position to continue to love us, and pursue us, even in our filth. Just seeing that kind of grace and love has been eye opening.
C-His relentless pursuit of us often leaves me in awe as well! How do you keep your eyes fixed on God when storms come your way?
Alysha-I would say always look at the bigger picture and remain humble. If we have a narrow minded view, we miss out on the ending. And if we have a know-it-all attitude or never ask for help, it shows our character. To go through storms we need people next to us to help us through, and remind us there is a God that has a much bigger plan than we think we're in.
C-I couldn't have said that any better. What are some verses that you often cling to as a reminder of His goodness?
Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever
James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
C-Thank you!! If you could encourage those out there who are fearful of letting go and trusting God, what would you say?
Alysha-A life of letting go is a lot less stressful when someone greater is in control. When you trust God, you are giving Him the authority to do what is in line with His plan, and it will always be for His good, and the outcome is always good. Whether you see it or not.
I don't know about you guys but I was so blessed her Alysha's testimony! You can always leave questions for her below, otherwise thank you for taking the time to check it out! I pray it has blessed you.
