2018 is right around the corner, but I am determined to end 2017 well. My husband and I sat down recently to talk about our marriage and areas where we need to move from being independent to interdependent. We talked about our family business and how we would like to see God move within it (yes, it stopped being “Caren’s business” last year when we realized that this is about US as a family not just one person). We talked about his residency and how we can support each other better during the harder rotations. We talked about parenting and how we can be united on discipline + grace. Unity is a word for me for 2018. Uniting with God in HIS mission and HIS agenda while being in line with HIS Word. Uniting with my husband. Uniting with my team of coaches and learning to do more things for others TOGETHER. I can be TOO independent, stubborn, and prideful. So I am making a shift and it is being drenched in prayer. I know things don’t just change overnight, but small choices can if I am willing to be intentional. So I just wanted to share this with you in case you can relate. This is an area of growth I am praying through!
The Lord is a SHIELD around me. He LIFTS my head high. HE is my provider. HE is my protector. HE has a track record of faithfulness. HE does not fail. HE never wastes obedience.
Let’s lean into Jesus. Let’s lean into Hope. Let’s lean into truth. Happy Monday friends!
Luca reminded me of that. He reminded me of the power of a smile. He paused all his fun to just stop and smile at this man as if to say, "I see you and you matter." Now Luca can't talk, obviously, but his actions were loud yesterday.
Friends, let's be quick to forgive and even quicker to extend grace and kindness to someone today. Show them a smile or ask if they need a hand.
Christmas isn't about gift giving. It's about receiving the greatest gift of all, Jesus, and then reflecting Him to others.
YOOOOO. How have I NEVER noticed the parable of the growing seed before in the book of Mark?! God spoke to me HARD this morning and it was such truth that I needed to share. I encourage you to open your bible to Mark 4:26-29 (quick read!) and then meet me back here!
To sum it up, Jesus tells of a man who scatters seed on the ground and then basically lets nature take its course. As the man who sowed the seed goes about his business day after day, he finds the seed begins to have an affect. The sprouts come, then the stalk, then leaves, then head of grain, etc. Jesus emphasizes how all this happens WITHOUT the man’s help. Quite honestly, it seems like the man is shocked at how all this happens without much of his intervention. Verse 28 says, “All by itself the soil produces.”
OKAY. Stay with me, this is powerful! This parable ends with a HARVEST. Now Jesus didn’t spend time explaining this parable like He did others so here is how I personally understand it. The crop can and does grow without the farmers intervention which teaches me that God can do ANYTHING even when we are unaware of what He is doing. In God’s timing, the Word brings forth its fruit and then God is glorified.
So what does that have to do with us? Everything. As Michelle Myers reminds us, stop striving and start surrendering. God can do more in your waiting than you can do in your doing. All we can do is be FAITHFUL in sowing the seeds friends and pray for a harvest but the outcome is up to GOD. Whether that be your businesses, desire for a family, discipling others, or mentoring your own children. Can I get a huge AMEN this morning?! I am just so thankful for God’s word on this beautiful Friday!
